Privacy Policy

How FilePriv handles uploaded files, temporary processing data, technical information, usage controls, payments, Pro access, and other information associated with the service.

FilePriv is designed around a privacy conscious approach to online file processing. The service exists to help users convert, process, and prepare files without requiring the creation of a traditional personal account for ordinary free or pro use.

This Privacy Policy explains what information may be handled when you use FilePriv, why that information may be necessary, how uploaded files are processed, how temporary information is managed, and how FilePriv approaches data minimization.

FilePriv is a processing service rather than a permanent cloud storage platform. Files are submitted because a user has requested a particular operation, and temporary storage may be required while that operation is being performed.

1. Scope of This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to information processed through the FilePriv website and the file processing features made available through the service.

It applies to visitors who browse the website, users who upload files for processing, users who use privacy related utilities such as metadata processing or private notes, and users who purchase or use FilePriv Pro services.

Different features may process different categories of information. You are not required to provide any information for using any of the FilePriv systems.

2. Information FilePriv May Process

The information handled by FilePriv depends on how you use the service. FilePriv aims to keep this information proportionate to the functionality being provided.

UPLOADED FILES

Files that you voluntarily submit for conversion, processing, metadata removal, or another operation requested through the service.

FILE INFORMATION

Information required to process a file, such as its filename, format, MIME type, size, processing status, and other technical attributes.

USAGE INFORMATION

Limited information may be used to enforce service limits and determine whether an anonymous visitor has remaining free usage.

PRO INFORMATION

Pro purchases may require payment references, subscription information, access tokens, and transaction related information necessary to provide the purchased service.

3. Uploaded Files

When you upload a file to FilePriv, the file must temporarily reach the FilePriv processing environment in order for the requested operation to take place.

Depending on the operation, the original file may be placed into temporary application storage and subsequently processed by the relevant conversion or processing system. A resulting file may also be temporarily stored until it can be provided to you.

FilePriv does not intend to use uploaded files as a permanent personal document collection. The purpose of accepting a file is to perform the operation requested by the user and then to remove it immediately after processing is finished.

Users should therefore download and retain their own copies of important files. FilePriv should not be considered a replacement for a personal backup system or permanent file archive.

4. Temporary File Retention and Deletion

File processing requires temporary storage in certain circumstances. A file may need to remain available while a conversion or processing job is waiting to execute, while processing is taking place, or while a generated result is being made available for download.

FilePriv uses automated application cleanup mechanisms to remove temporary files when they are no longer required by the service.

The exact lifetime of a file can depend on the type of operation, processing state, and applicable service rules. Temporary deletion processes may also operate independently from the user's browser session.

Because deletion systems can depend on automated processing and infrastructure conditions, FilePriv does not represent that deletion occurs at an exact second or that every temporary copy can be destroyed instantaneously.

5. Why Information Is Processed

Information handled by FilePriv may be necessary for several legitimate operational purposes.

PROCESSING

To receive uploaded files, perform requested conversions or operations, and provide resulting files.

SERVICE OPERATION

To maintain queues, processing jobs, temporary storage, download workflows, and other core functionality.

SECURITY

To protect the service, investigate technical problems, prevent abuse, and maintain reliable infrastructure.

BILLING

To process Pro purchases, associate payments with the appropriate service, and provide purchased access.

6. Anonymous Free Usage

FilePriv's basic free functionality is designed so that a traditional personal account is not required.

To operate free usage limits, FilePriv may use an anonymous browser identifier or similar technical mechanism. This allows the service to distinguish one browser's usage from another for the limited purpose of enforcing the applicable usage allowance.

This mechanism is not intended to function as a traditional user account or personal profile. It exists primarily to maintain fair access to limited free resources.

Clearing browser data, changing browsers, or using different devices may affect how an anonymous usage identifier is recognized. FilePriv may also change its technical approach to abuse prevention and usage controls as the service develops.

7. Cookies and Browser Storage

FilePriv may use cookies or similar browser side mechanisms where they are necessary to provide functionality or maintain temporary service state.

For example, an anonymous identifier may be stored in your browser to help maintain free usage limits. This identifier is used for service functionality rather than as a traditional personal account identity.

Your browser normally provides controls that allow you to inspect, restrict, or remove stored cookies. Disabling certain browser storage mechanisms may affect the functionality of some FilePriv features.

8. Private Notes

FilePriv may provide a private notes feature that allows a user to create a temporary note and optionally associate an attachment with that note.

Content submitted through private notes is processed and stored only for the purpose of providing the requested functionality and for the applicable lifetime of the note.

Users should understand that creating a private link does not make the content equivalent to an end-to-end encrypted messaging system. Information submitted to the service must be processed by FilePriv infrastructure in order for the feature to work.

9. Metadata Processing

Some FilePriv tools are specifically designed to inspect, remove, or process metadata contained within supported files or images.

When using such a feature, the uploaded file must be temporarily processed by the FilePriv system. Depending on the file format, metadata may include information originally embedded by cameras, editing software, operating systems, or other applications.

Metadata removal should not be assumed to eliminate every possible piece of identifying information from a file. Users should verify the resulting file when complete privacy is important.

10. File Names and File Information

FilePriv may need to process technical information associated with an uploaded file in order to determine how it should be handled.

This can include the original filename, file extension, detected MIME type, file size, processing status, generated filename, and other information required by the application.

Users should therefore avoid including sensitive personal information in filenames when such information is not necessary for the task.

11. Pro Purchases and Payments

FilePriv Pro may involve cryptocurrency payment processing through a separate payment processing service.

When a Pro purchase is initiated, FilePriv may create a payment reference so that the payment can be associated with the requested Pro service.

Payment related information may include the selected plan, payment reference, payment status, transaction identifier, payment timestamp, and information required to provide and verify Pro access.

FilePriv does not need to collect conventional card details when a payment method does not require them. Cryptocurrency transactions may nevertheless be recorded on their respective public blockchain networks and may therefore have characteristics that are outside FilePriv's control.

12. Pro Access Tokens

FilePriv Pro uses access credentials to allow eligible users to access Pro functionality without requiring a traditional account system.

A Pro access token should be treated as confidential. Anyone who obtains a valid access token may potentially be able to use the associated Pro access.

Users should not intentionally publish, share, or expose their access token. FilePriv may retain the information necessary to verify the validity and status of Pro access.

13. Technical Infrastructure

FilePriv uses server side infrastructure to receive uploads, queue processing operations, perform conversions, maintain temporary application state, and provide completed results.

Technical systems may temporarily process information such as processing status, job identifiers, file attributes, application state, and other data required for the service to operate correctly.

Processing infrastructure is designed so that uploaded files are handled within controlled application workflows rather than being intentionally exposed as ordinary public files.

14. Security

FilePriv takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by the service.

These measures may include controlled application access, restricted storage locations, protected communication channels, server-side validation, background processing, access controls, and automated cleanup procedures.

However, no internet connected service can guarantee absolute security. Users should consider the sensitivity of a file before submitting it to any third party online service.

FilePriv cannot guarantee that every security incident, vulnerability, infrastructure failure, or unauthorized access attempt will always be prevented.

15. Service Providers

FilePriv may rely on carefully selected infrastructure and service providers where necessary to operate the website, process payments, provide hosting infrastructure, deliver technical functionality, or perform other essential services.

Where another provider is involved in processing information, the information shared with that provider is limited to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant service or transaction.

Payment processing is an example of a service that may involve a separate provider. Such providers may have their own privacy policies and terms governing their services.

16. Information We Do Not Need

FilePriv's ordinary free file processing workflow does not require users to provide unnecessary profile information simply to perform a conversion or processing operation.

In particular, FilePriv is not designed around requiring a conventional username and password account for every Free or Pro user.

You should nevertheless avoid voluntarily submitting unnecessary personal information in uploaded files, filenames, private notes, or other content.

17. Third Party Websites and Services

FilePriv may contain links to external websites or services. These third party services operate independently from FilePriv and may have their own terms, privacy policies, cookies, and data-processing practices.

Once you leave FilePriv and interact directly with another service, the privacy practices of that service may apply. Users should review the relevant third party's policies when appropriate.

18. Legal and Regulatory Requirements

FilePriv may be required to disclose information where disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, court orders, or valid requests from competent authorities. However, due to the way the FilePriv systems are set up there will never be any information available to be handed over.

Where legally permitted and reasonably appropriate, FilePriv will seek to limit disclosures to the information actually required for the relevant purpose.

19. Data Retention

FilePriv's retention approach depends on the type of information involved. In general no retention is available.

Temporary uploaded files are intended to be removed when they are no longer required for the relevant processing workflow. Information required to maintain Pro purchases, transactions, security, service operation, or legal compliance may need to be retained for longer periods.

Retention periods may therefore differ between temporary file content, payment information, technical records, anonymous usage controls, and other operational data.

20. Children's Privacy

FilePriv is not specifically designed as a service for children. Users should have the legal capacity required to use the service in their jurisdiction.

Parents or guardians who believe that a child has submitted personal information to the service may contact FilePriv regarding the matter.

21. Your Responsibilities

Users are responsible for ensuring that they have the right to upload and process files submitted to FilePriv.

You should not upload files containing information that you are prohibited from sharing with a third party processing service.

You should also retain your own copies of important files, verify downloaded results, and protect any Pro access credentials provided to you.

22. Privacy and Data Protection Rights

Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply, you may have rights relating to information processed by FilePriv.

Depending on the applicable legal framework, these may include rights to request access to personal information, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion where applicable, object to certain processing, or exercise other rights provided by law.

The availability and scope of these rights depend on the applicable law, the nature of the information involved, and the circumstances of the request.

23. Changes to This Privacy Policy

FilePriv may update this Privacy Policy when the service, technology, legal requirements, or privacy practices change.

When changes are made, the updated version will be published on this page with an updated effective date where appropriate.

Continued use of the service after an updated policy becomes effective means that the updated policy will apply to future use of the service, subject to applicable law.

24. Contact

If you have a privacy-related question, believe information has been handled incorrectly, or want to ask about the processing of your information, you can contact FilePriv through the contact method provided on the website.

When contacting FilePriv about a privacy matter, please provide enough information for the request to be understood and investigated without unnecessarily including sensitive personal information in your message.

Important:
FilePriv is designed to minimize unnecessary data handling, but no online service can provide an absolute guarantee of privacy or security. Do not upload highly sensitive information unless you have determined that using an online third-party processing service is appropriate for that information.
